Find out what is actually going on with your skin

A consultant dermatologist examines it, tells you what she is looking at, and prices the whole plan before you commit to any of it.

There is no sales team, because there is nothing to sell you.

You’ll be seen by Dr Elin Marchetti

Elin is a consultant dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register. She trained at Guy's and St Thomas' and spent fourteen years in NHS dermatology before opening Marleigh in 2013, tired of telling patients they would be seen in seven months.

She still runs an NHS skin cancer list one day a week. It keeps her hand in on the thing that matters most, and it means this clinic is not the only thing paying her.

What brings you in?

Three doors, because the people who walk through them have nothing in common except a postcode. Pick the one that sounds like you.

Something on your skin you're worried about

A mole that has changed. A spot that will not heal. Something your partner keeps mentioning. Dr Marchetti checks it with a dermatoscope and tells you what it is, usually within twenty minutes.

What actually happens when you come in

The thing most people want to know before they book is not what a treatment does. It is whether anyone is going to try to sell them something.

Every appointment on this page is with Dr Marchetti or Jo Whitaker.

Before

You fill in a medical history online, the day before. Five minutes. It means we do not spend your appointment on paperwork.

On the day

Park round the back. There is no sign on the door. You are shown straight through, because we only book one patient at a time. Elin looks at your skin under good light and a dermatoscope, asks what is bothering you, and says what she thinks it is.

The plan

You leave with it in writing: what she would do, in what order, what it costs in total, and what happens if it does not work. If she thinks you should do nothing, she will say that, and you still get the plan.

Nothing is done on the day

Not for anything cosmetic. You go home with the plan, you think about it, and you book if you want to. Nobody will ring you to chase. GMC guidance asks doctors to give patients time to think, and we agree with it.

After

If you go ahead, you get a review appointment two weeks later at no extra cost, and Elin's clinic mobile for anything that worries you in between.

We are trying to make you look well, not different

The thing most people are frightened of is looking treated. It is a reasonable fear and we design around it. You will not find a gallery of other people’s faces here.

We treat conservatively and review at two weeks

It is easy to add more. It is slow and expensive to take it away.

We will not do something only because you asked for it

If the thing you have asked for would make you look overdone, Elin will tell you, offer what she would actually recommend, and let you decide.

We say no

Around one in six cosmetic consultations end with “not yet”. Nobody's pay here depends on your answer.

Went in about a mole I had been worrying about for months. Seen on the Thursday, told it was nothing in about fifteen minutes, and she photographed it so we can compare next year. Worth every penny for the peace of mind.

Marleigh repliedThank you. Glad we could put your mind at rest. See you next July for the recall.

Third clinic I have been to for rosacea and the first that gave me an actual diagnosis and a written plan with a total cost on it. No pressure to buy anything on the day.

A.K.2026-06-24

Very thorough and I did not feel sold to at all, which was the thing I was dreading. Only reason for four stars is that I had to wait two weeks for an appointment.

Marleigh repliedThat is fair, and thank you for saying so. We hold Thursday mornings for urgent skin checks; do ring and we will fit you in sooner.

J.P.2026-06-02

Came about lines around my eyes and was told, politely, that I did not need anything yet and to come back in a couple of years. I have never had that happen anywhere.

The mole clinic

If something has changed, get it looked at this week.

Most of what we check is harmless. Telling you that, with certainty, in twenty minutes, is worth the fee on its own.

Dr Marchetti examines your skin with a dermatoscope, photographs anything worth watching, and tells you which of three things applies: it is benign and you can forget it, it is benign and we will photograph it and look again in a year, or it needs removing and we book that now.

We are CQC registered for diagnostic and screening procedures. Your results are seen by a consultant dermatologist, not a technician.

Two things we should say plainly

Prices for a course of treatment are what a typical course costs. If Elin thinks you need fewer sessions, you pay for fewer. That has happened more often than the reverse.

Whether any treatment is right for you is a decision for you and your doctor together, at your appointment. It is not a decision to make off a price list, and something you have seen here may not be suitable for you.

£250 buys forty-five minutes with a consultant dermatologist, a diagnosis, and the whole thing priced before you commit to any of it. If Elin thinks you should not have treatment, she will tell you, and that is what the £250 was for.

Questions

No. You can book any appointment on this page yourself. If you would like us to write to your GP afterwards we will, and we would usually recommend it for anything medical.

The examination, the diagnosis, and the plan, priced end to end, which is yours to take to any clinic you like. Nothing is added afterwards. The £50 lines and wrinkles consultation comes off treatment within 90 days; the £250 and £295 appointments do not, because you are buying a diagnosis rather than putting down a deposit.

Because a free consultation is a sales appointment. Someone has to pay for the doctor's time, and if it is not you it is whoever gets talked into treatment that day. We would rather charge you and have nothing riding on your answer.

That is the outcome we work hardest to avoid. Treating conservatively and reviewing at two weeks is slower than the alternative and it is the only way to be sure. If what you are asking for would make you look overdone, Elin will say so to your face and offer you what she would actually recommend.

Put her GMC number into the register on the GMC's own website. It takes about thirty seconds and it will show you her registration, her specialty and whether she has a licence to practise. Do the same for any clinician anywhere before you let them near you.

Usually within a week, often within three days. Book a skin check and you will see the actual available times. If Elin sees something that needs urgent attention she will refer you the same day, and we will not charge you for the referral.

You call Elin's clinic mobile and you speak to the person who treated you. Not a call centre and not a receptionist. Every treatment carries some risk, and we go through the specific ones with you before you agree to anything.

For treatment courses over £750, yes, spread over three months with no interest and no credit check. We do not offer finance on anything cosmetic, because we do not think anyone should borrow money to have their face treated.

Often, yes. Book a 45-minute consultation and bring whatever paperwork you have, including what you were treated with and how much. Elin will tell you honestly what can be improved, what has to be waited out, and what she cannot fix. She sees this most weeks and nobody here will make you feel silly about it.

Not for anything cosmetic. We do see under-18s for medical skin conditions such as acne, with a parent or guardian present.

How to check any clinic, including this one

Most people have no way of telling a good clinic from a bad one, and the industry likes it that way. Here is what to check. It applies to us as much as to anyone.

  1. 01

    Who is actually treating you?

Get the name and the registration number, then look it up. GMC for doctors, NMC for nurses, GDC for dentists. Ours are on this page.

  2. 02

Are they on a government-approved register?

Save Face and the JCCP both inspect premises as well as paperwork. Both are searchable by anyone.

  3. 03

    Is the clinic CQC registered?

Anyone diagnosing or treating a skin condition should be. Ask for the number and check it.

  4. 04

Who sees you if something goes wrong at 10pm?

If the answer is not “the person who treated you”, think again.

  5. 05

Are you being asked to decide on the day?

You should not be. Two-stage consent exists for a reason.

  6. 06

Is there a discount if you book now?

That is a sales tactic, and GMC guidance tells doctors not to use promotional tactics that encourage an ill-considered decision.
