Last updated 1 January 2026. Photographs of people are personal information, so this page matters more in my trade than in most.
I'm Daniel Hart, a photographer based in Farnham working across Surrey and Hampshire. I decide what happens to the information described here, which in data protection language makes me the data controller. Email daniel@example.co.uk or ring 01252 000000.
The enquiry form on this site is handled by Formspree, which passes your message to my inbox. I receive your name, email address, your date and whatever you tell me about the day. If the date doesn't happen, I delete the enquiry after twelve months.
I hold your contact details, your contract, your invoices, the timings and locations for the day, and the names of anyone you've asked me to photograph specifically. Payment records are kept for six years because HMRC requires it.
Your gallery is hosted online behind a password. Files are backed up in two places, one of them off site. I keep the finished photographs for three years after the wedding so that you can come back for reprints, then delete them unless you've asked me to keep them longer. Please keep your own copy: three years goes quickly.
I'd like to show some of your photographs on my website, in my portfolio and on Instagram. The contract asks you to say yes or no to that, and no is a perfectly ordinary answer that changes nothing else. If you say yes and change your mind afterwards, email me and I'll take them down, though I can't pull back a printed magazine or a blog post someone else has copied.
I never sell your photographs to stock libraries, and I don't hand them to venues or suppliers without asking you first.
On the day I photograph your guests as part of the event. If a guest asks me not to photograph them, I won't, and if one asks afterwards to be removed from anything public, tell me and I'll do it.
You can ask to see what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, or ask me to stop using it. Contracts and payment records I have to keep for the periods above.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, tell me first and I'll do my best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see the request your browser makes for them. My host keeps ordinary server logs for security.
